Molly Ivins Again and Program on International Policy
Star Telegram | 10/09/2003 | Not much of a party occasion
She raises a lot of good questions. Why is it that the American popular opinion is so off-based?
Perhaps, the report, Misperceptions, The Media and the Iraq War, from the University of Maryland’s Program on International Policy Attitudes clarifies the problem: Fox News.
Bits from the 23 page report as summarized by SemiTruth*:
Fox News watchers were most likely to hold misperceptions — and were three times more likely than the next nearest network to hold all three misperceptions. In the audience for NPR/PBS, however, there was an overwhelming majority who did not have any of the three misperceptions, and hardly any had all three.
* Note: I have never seen Semi Truth before, but it was a nice succinct line, and wanted to give credit.

NetNewsWire Rocks
NetNewsWire is just plain great. The latest version allows me to read all my rss feeds, and if I see something I want to blog, I just click on it and go straight to a window where I can edit my blog and create an entry for that item. It prefills all the information, and all I need to do is add my comment. Very nice. I suppose that puts more onus on me to think up meaningful commentary on sites of interest.
